Shopping in France: Jonak

Coat - Mango | Jeans - H&M | Bag - ALDO | Boots - Jonak | Lipstick - Nouba Millebaci in №46

A couple weeks ago I talked to Russian Fashion Blogs about my top autumn picks, and mentioned the Jonak boots I purchased back in September and been obsessed with ever since. I've been on a hunt for a perfect pair of mid heel, chic and comfy, but still affordable boots for what seems like forever, and turned out the exact pair I was looking for was hiding at La Redoute all that time.

Jonak was founded in Paris in 1964 when Marcel Nakam opened his first boutique in Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The brand was named after Josette and Joseph Nakam, the wife and the son of the founder. 50 years later, the Nakam family still runs the business, and what impresses me the most is the fact that 95% of their shoes are made in Europe. Jonak releases over 500 new models each season, meaning there's something for everybody: from classic pumps to edgy boots to trendy flats - and everything in between. You can get their shoes at Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, as well as online and at one of the brand's many French stores.

The pair I got is made of excellent quality leather and is also extremely comfortable. Of course, if you'll have to spend a whole day on your feet (like I did last month when the agency I work for was hosting an event and I didn't have an opportunity to sit down not even once for 10 hours straight), chances are your feet will be tired. But then again, this happens even when you're wearing flats. What I love about my boots as well, is that the front is smooth whereas the back looks like reptile leather - this gives the shoes that much needed texture that takes the outfit to a whole new level.

Have you ever heard of Jonak? What are your favorite footwear brands?
