Merry Christmas & a Happy 2016!

Friday, December 25

This year's winter in St. Petersburg is so far very similar to the winter in, say, Paris or Vienna. The temperatures are unusually high and we barely had a chance to witness any snow whatsoever in December. All this makes strolling around the city center in the days leading to the New Year's Eve even more enjoyable. Nevsky avenue is beautifully decorated with delicate garlands, Christmas tree on the Palace Square is sparkling day and night and DLT department store's Russian fairytales themed window displays make you stop and stare no matter how late you are for a meeting.

Have you ever noticed, that the build-up for holidays so very often feels much more exciting than the holidays themselves? As human beings, we tend to always look forward instead of focusing on what's here and now. C'mon, how many of you have already filled in the 2016 diaries but haven't yet decided what to wear for the NYE party? I bet many.

This holiday season I would like to wish you all to stay grounded and present; look back at the year, pat yourself on the back for all the achievements, and then unwind and enjoy celebrations to the fullest. Play boardgames with your family and friends instead of constantly checking social media for updates and comments. Have fun outdoors frolicking in the snow or exploring the city. And don't forget to make a wish as the clock will be striking midnight on New Year's Eve - let it be a grand one.

Joyeux Noël et bonne année!

    1. Спасибо, Саша! Наконец-то подзарядилась праздничным настроением. Вот сегодня, правда, после этих длительных прогулок ухудшилось самочувствие, и вынуждена пропустить аж два мероприятия(
