Roue de Paris

Thursday, December 10

Roue de Paris is a giant (now 70-meter tall!) ferris wheel installed on place de la Concorde, right between the Champs-Elysées and the Tuileries Garden. It is practically a symbol of the holiday season in Paris, since it opens in late November each year as part of the festive celebrations.

I highly recommend going for a ride in the evening right before the Eiffel Tower begins to sparkle. You'll have a marvelous view over the elegant Louvre and illuminated Champs-Elysées all to yourself as well. To make the night even more joyful, head to the Christmas market straight away and enjoy some mulled wine while wandering between the stalls.

To those that will be visiting Paris for UEFA EURO 2016: according to various rumors, during the tournament the cabins of the wheel will be decorated with colors of the participating nations and a huge screen may also be placed at the center of it to celebrate one of the biggest sporting events in the world. How exciting!

When? November 18th, 2015 - March 1st, 2016
How much? 10 euros (adults) / 5 euros (children under 10 years old)

UPDATE: THE FERRIS WHEEL WAS TAKEN DOWN IN MAY 2018
